Students at Harvard found that that de-anomymizing data becomes much simpler when linked to other data, e.g. from data breaches. Not surprising, except for those who like to advocate “anonymizing”.

Facebook is one of those businesses that will bite the dust when the personal data disruption hits for real. Just like Blockbuster when Netflix appeared. Because it hasn’t learned its lesson and shows no sign of wanting to. Unfortunately democracy may be dead by then. So let’s work harder to make that happen sooner rather than later.
